Here’s the short version for how to use multiple textures:
1. Access the Info dialog box for the item you want the textures on.
2. Open the Attributes window (command-2).
3. Select the Textures item in the pull-down menu.
4. Drag the desired texture icons (one at a time) from the Attributes window to the Attributes holding area in the item Info dialog box.
5. Edit the application of each texture individually by double-clicking on each of the expanded icons in the item Attributes holding area.
Some things you may want to know:
1. The ray trace rendering engine, does not support the transparency settings in the texture mapping dialog.
The import of his is that you need to drag the icon for your “base” texture into the item Attributes holding area first. Think of it as pasting opaque labels one on top of the other as you drag them into the holding area. You can size and position the labels so that they all show, but labels pasted on last will override the labels underneath.
2. Bump mapping is additive and should not be dependent on the order in which the textures are put into the item Attributes holding area. The z scale is the control for bump mapping.
3. Presenter’s write to RenderMan does not support multiple textures (shaders).
